CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The 17
th-ranked Queens University of Charlotte men's lacrosse team earned its third win in a row this evening defeating North Greenville University, 20-7, in a nonconference game. The win moves the Royals to 8-3 on the year.
Tyler Ewen led the way with four goals and four assists for eight points while
Kealan Pilon added six points with three goals and three assists. Pilon also recorded his 100th career assist in the win.
Austin Leonard added three goals and
Adam Barry,
Hunter Meyer, and
Jack Royer each chipped in with two goals.
After trailing the Crusaders, 2-1, early, Queens scored three in a row en route to taking a 4-3 lead into the second quarter where they scored seven unanswered goals to hold an 11-3 lead at the half.
The Royals' run continued into the second half where they found the back of the cage three times in the third while the Crusaders remained scoreless. North Greenville would try to close the margin in the fourth with four goals, but the Royals scored six more times to secure the home win.
Queens outshot the Crusaders, 53-42, putting 32 shots on goal. The Royals also won 22 face-offs with
Alex Alonso winning 14-of-20. Alonso also totaled 10 of the Royals' 47 ground balls.
William Powley earned the win in goal for Queens after totaling 11 saves.
Cam Webb led the Crusaders with two goals while Garrison Story took the loss in goal after recording 12 saves.
Queens is back in action on the road at Lincoln Memorial University on Saturday, Apr. 9 at 4 p.m.
