Royals Fall to No. 3 Limestone at Home

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The 15th-ranked Queens University of Charlotte men's lacrosse team (8-4, 4-3) dropped its South Atlantic Conference game this evening to No. 3 Limestone University (12-1, 7-1) by a score of 16-9 at Dickson Field.
 
Tyler Ewen led the Royals in points with five after totaling two goals and three assists. Kealan Pilon and Hunter Meyer each chipped in with two goals. In goal, William Powley totaled 14 saves in 57:54 of action.
 
Following a tight first quarter of action that saw the Royals trail 3-1, the Saints opened up the game in the second outscoring Queens 6-3 in the second to take a 9-4 lead at the halftime.
 
Out of the break, Meyer would strike first scoring a man-up goal at 12:37. However, his goal would be the only for Queens in the third as the Saints added three more to their total.
 
Queens would make a final push in the fourth, finding the back of the net four times to match their opponent's efforts in the period.
 
The Royals were outshot 50-35, putting 20 shots on goal compared to Limestone's 30 shots on goal. Queens also won just 10-of-28 faceoffs.
 
Mike McGarry led the Saints with five goals while Gavin Kesselring added three goals.
 
The Royals will be on the road at Anderson University on Saturday at 1 p.m.
