Royals Pick Up Win over Mount Olive to Move to 16-0

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The top-ranked Royals are one game closer to completing their first perfect regular season in program history after defeating Mount Olive this evening by a score of 21-6 at Dickson Field. Queens University sits 16-0 on the year following the nonconference victory.
 
Queens attacker Rebecca Kinsley set a new single-season record for points today reaching 98 points this season after totaling two goals and one assist. Additionally, Shannon Donovan reached the century mark in career points after tallying four goals on the day.
 
Kaitlyn Hardin was the Royals' leading scorer today with five goals and two assists for seven points. Kyleigh Masteran totaled four goals while Shannon Kingston added four points on two goals and two assists. Sydney Bracken and Caroline Krauch chipped in with two goals each.
 
The Royals outshot the Trojans 40-21, putting 29 shots on goal. Queens also totaled 18 draw controls with Kaylee Mia Geist and Bracken each totaling five. Hardin led the way in ground balls with four of the Royals' 21. In goal, Sharn Muffett improved to 7-0 after recording 11 saves.
 
Queens took some time getting into their usual offensive rhythm this afternoon leading just 5-2 at the close of the first quarter. A 4-0 run to close the half would put the Royals on top 11-4 heading into the break.
 
Queens would outscore Mount Olive 6-2 in the third to pull away before holding the Trojans scoreless in the final 15 minutes of action to secure the win.
 
Bria Hamilton led the Trojans with three goals and one assist for four points.
 
The Royals will host their regular-season finale on Saturday welcoming Catawba College to Dickson Field for Senior Day. The game is scheduled to begin at 12:30 with presentations scheduled ahead of the game.
