No. 17 Queens Earns Win over Pioneers at Home

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The 17th-ranked Queens University of Charlotte men's lacrosse team defeated Tusculum University, 23-10, this afternoon to improve to 7-3 on the year and 4-2 in league play.
 
Kealan Pilon led the Royals with eight points on four goals and four assists while Ryan Lightsey and Tyler Ewen each recorded hat tricks.
 
Queens outshot the Pioneers, 60-33, putting 37 shots on goal this afternoon compared to Tusculum's 22 shots on goal. The Royals also totaled 44 ground balls with Alex Alonso's 11 leading the way. Alonso also won 18-of-19 face-offs to lead Queens who won 31 on the day.
 
The Pioneers would strike first in today's game before Queens went on a 7-0 run to take a 7-1 lead into the second period. Tusculum responded in the second with a 3-1 run that forced a Queens timeout. Out of the short break, the Royals scored six unanswered goals to take a 15-4 lead at the half.
 
Queens then outscored the Pioneers, 6-2, in the third before coasting to victory in the fourth adding two more points to the board.
 
Nate Raymond led the Pioneers with four goals in the loss.
 
Queens will return to action on Wednesday, Apr. 6 when they host North Greenville University for a nonconference game at Dickson Field.
