WISE, Va. – Top-ranked Queens University of Charlotte's perfect season continues as they defeated UVA Wise 27-4 on the road this afternoon to improve to 15-0 on the season and 9-0 in South Atlantic Conference play.
It was another dominating performance for the Royals offensively as they outshot the Cavs 47-7 to put 41 shots on goal. Queens also won the battle for ground balls, 31-12, and totaled 19 draw controls to UVA Wise's 15.
Rebecca Kinsley led the Royals offensively with nine points on four goals and five assists while
Shannon Kingston added six points on four goals and two assists.
Kaitlyn Hardin (5 goals),
Sydney Bracken (4 goals, 1 assists), and
Carson Giordano (3 goals, 2 assists) each added five points and
Shannon Donovan and
Kyleigh Masteran each had two goals and two assists for four points.
Alexi Flores also tallied four points after recording a hat trick and one assist.
Defensively, the Royals totaled 20 caused turnovers with Kingston notching five while Donovan tallied four.
Grace Guglielmo,
Avery McMullin, and Kinsley each had three. In goal,
Sharn Muffett improved to 5-0 after totaling three saves.
The Royals jumped out to an early lead after scoring their first goal of the game less than a minute into play. Queens' lead quickly grew as they continued to score at will. They led 10-0 with 2:22 on the clock on the first and went on to swell the margin to 18-0 at the halftime break.
The Cavs opened the third with a 4-1 run, but that was all the Royals would allow them to get on the board as Queens closed the game with an 8-0 run.
Katie Allen led the Cavs with two goals.
Today's road game was the final of the regular season as the Royals will return home to close things out against Mount Olive on Wednesday, Apr. 20 and Catawba on Saturday, Apr. 23.
