ANDERSON, S.C. – The 15
th-ranked Queens University of Charlotte men's lacrosse team bounced back this afternoon collecting a 17-9 win at Anderson University (8-7, 4-5). The win improves the Royals' overall record to 9-4 on the year while their league record sits at 5-3.
Pat Marks led the Royals in goals with four while
Kealan Pilon led in points with six after tallying three goals and three assists.
Tyler Ewen added five points on three goals and two assists and
Ryan Lightsey added three goals.
Adam Barry contributed with two goals and two assists.
Trailing 3-1 early in the first quarter, Queens put together a 4-0 push to take a 5-3 lead into the second. The Trojans would cut the lead to one after scoring the first goal in the period, but Queens would go on to outscore them 4-2 in the quarter to take a 9-5 lead at the half.
Queens sealed today's win in third after going on a 6-1 run to build a 15-6 lead heading into the final 15 minutes of action. They then held off Anderson's attack in the fourth to hold on for the win.
The Royals edged the Trojans in shots, 44-42, putting 28 shots on goal. Queens also won the battle for ground balls, 38-25, and won 18 face-offs as
Alex Alonso went 15-of-24 and tallied 11 ground balls.
Queens goalkeeper
William Powley recorded a career-high 16 saves as his record improved to 9-3 on the year.
Nick Calabrese led the Trojans in the loss with three goals.
Queens will travel to face Lincoln Memorial on Wednesday, Apr. 20 in a rescheduled game.
