Queens took game one in the ninth inning, 4-3, before the Pioneers defeated the Royals in six innings, 8-0, in game two.
Â
Game One: Queens 4 | Tusculum 3
Neither team would score a run in game one until
Adriana Wilson put the Royals on the board in the top of the eighth after an
Ashlyn Mickler sacrifice fly to left field. Wilson would score the run after being placed on second at the start of the extra inning. The Royals' 1-0 lead would be short-lived as Hannah Hughes' RBI double up the middle brought Tusculum's baserunner home for an unearned run, ending the eighth inning tied, 1-1.
Â
Queens'
Jordyn Thompson stepped up in the ninth to record a three-run triple to right-center that would eventually secure the win for the Royals. The Pioneers would keep things interesting with a pair of runs in the bottom, but Queens' defense was able to hold them off.Â
Â
Jordan Dunn worked the Pioneers' offense from the pitching circle retiring five batters. Her record improves to 15-10.
Â
Emily Sappington of Tusculum struck out nine batters while allowing four hits and four runs.Â

Â
Thompson would be the only Royal to record hits in game two going a perfect 2-of-2 at the plate.
Â
Haley Nelson and Dunn saw action in the pitching circle as Nelson recorded the loss dropping her record 1-1.
Â
The Royals will take some days off before returning to their home field at The Tuck to take on Anderson University on Tuesday, Apr. 19. The doubleheader is set to begin at 2 p.m.
