CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The third-ranked Queens University of Charlotte women's lacrosse team moved to 8-0 after earning a 22-0 win at home over Mars Hill University (5-2, 1-2). The shutout win is the first for the Royals since the 2020 season and puts Queens at 3-0 in South Atlantic Conference play.
The Royals quickly asserted themselves in today's game putting nine points on the board in the opening quarter of action. A goal from
Shannon Donovan at 13:31 in the second would invoke the running clock and Queens went on to cruise from there to its eighth victory of the season.
Queens outshot the Lions, 52-2, putting 38 shots on goal to Mars Hill's zero shots on goal. The Royals also won the battle for ground balls, 34-9, with
Colby Dugdale and
Stephanie Joyce each totaling four to lead.
Sydney Bracken led in draw controls with eight as the Royals tallied 22 to Mars Hill's four.
Rebecca Kinsley and
Kyleigh Masteran each totaled eight points to lead the Royals as Kinsley tallied three goals and five assists and Masteran had five goals and three assists. Donovan added three goals while
Kaitlyn Hardin recorded five points on two goals and three assists.
The Royals will be back in action on Saturday, Mar. 26 at Lenoir-Rhyne University. The game is slated to begin at 4 p.m.
