CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Queens University of Charlotte men's lacrosse team moved to 3-0 on the year following a 16-6 win over No. 14 Mount Olive (2-1) at home. The Royals now lead the all-time series with the Trojans, 5-2.
Both
Adam Barry and
Kealan Pilon recorded six points to lead Queens this afternoon. Barry totaled three goals and three assists while Pilon had five assists and one goal.
Tyler Ewen totaled two goals and two assists for four points and
Pat Marks added a hat trick and one assist for four points. In goal,
William Powley earned the win after recording 10 saves.
Queens immediately jumped on the Trojans early scoring three unanswered goals in the first quarter en route to taking a 4-2 lead into the second. The Royals then found the back of the cage four straight times in the second period while allowing Mount Olive to just score twice before the break. Queens would take an 8-4 lead into the half.
After stretching their lead to six, 11-5, in the third, Queens really put the game out of Mount Olive's reach in the fourth outscoring the Trojans 5-1 to remain undefeated on the young season.
The Royals outshot the Trojans, 48-35, putting 29 shots on goal to Mount Olives 16 shots on goal. The Royals also won the battle for ground balls, 45-24.
The Trojans were led by Blake Tallon and Lucas Shein who scored two goals each. Andrew Avarello took the loss in goal after totaling 13 saves.
The Royals are heading into their bye week and will return to action on Mar. 5 when they host Newberry in their South Atlantic Conference opener. The game is slated to begin at 1 p.m.
