CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The third-ranked Queens University of Charlotte women's lacrosse team moved to 2-0 on the year after earning another dominating victory this evening, defeating Lee University 24-8.
The Royals had total control of tonight's game on the offensive end, outshooting the Flames 46-21 to put 34 shots on goal compared to Lee's13 shots on goal. Queens also collected 23 draw controls in the win with
Grace Guglielmo's 10 leading the way.
After trading goals at the start, Queens erupted with four unanswered goals to take a 5-1 lead into the second quarter where they outscored the Flames 7-3 to take an eight-goal lead into the halftime break.
Lee would tally the first goal of the third quarter, but the Royals responded with six straight to increase their lead by 13 heading into the final 15 minutes of action. Six more goals in the fourth for the home team then gave them the 16-point win in their first-ever meeting with the Flames.
Newcomer
Rebecca Kinsley continued her dominance on the offensive end totaling eight points on six goals and two assists.
Shannon Kingston added seven points on five goals and two assists while
Kyleigh Masteran added four goals.
Shannon Donovan recorded four points with a hat trick and one assist and
Carson Giordano added three assists.
Sydney Bracken chipped in with a pair of goals and one assist while
Kaitlyn Hardin led in assists with three to go along with her one goal.
Additionally, freshman midfielder
Karsyn Sadler notched her first collegiate career goal in the win.
The Flames were led by Dariana Blanton who recorded three goals while Brittney White added two goals and an assist.
In goal, Queens'
Caroline Kraemer earned her second win of the season after totaling five saves.
Next, the Royals will head to the Sunshine State to take on No. 23 Saint Leo and No. 7 Florida Southern on Feb. 25 and 27, respectively. They will then return to the Queen City to face No. 11 Tampa in the Crown Lacrosse Classic at American Legion Memorial Stadium on March 5.
