The Short Story:Â The Queens University of Charlotte men's basketball team held the High Point Panthers to a 34-percent shooting mark in the second half as the Royals stormed past the Panthers on Friday night.
Kenny Dye led the charge with a season-high 28 points on 9-of-14 shooting from the field.
BY THE NUMBERS
-In the second half,
Kenny Dye recorded his 1,500
th career point as he became the sixth Royal in program history to reach the milestone. The senior added five rebounds and four assists in the victory.

Jay'Den Turner posted his seventh career double-double, and second this season with a 12 point and 11 rebound performance.

Kalib Mathews finished the evening with a career-high 16 points on 6-of-9 shooting from the field.

AJ McKee reached double figures for the 10
th straight game with a 13-point performance. The Charlotte native went 6-for-7 from the charity stripe which tied his career-high.

Gavin Rains was a force on the glass as the junior recorded a game-high 13 rebounds, including six offensive boards. Rains sits top 15 nationally in D1 for rebounds per game.
-After the Panthers shot 51-percent in the first half, the Royals held the eighth best scoring offense to a 34-percent clip in the second half.
-In a physical battle that saw 48 fouls between both squads, the Royals capitalized from the free throw line in the second half going 22-for-31 from the stripe while the Panthers went 9-for-17.
NOTABLE MOMENTS
-Trailing 9-8 in the first half, the Panthers used a quick 13-6 run shooting 5-of-5 from the field to grab a 21-12 lead. The Royals would respond with an 11-2 surge over a four minute span to regain a 23-21 advantage.
-Trailing 55-50 in the second half, Queens would use a 12-2 run to take a 62-57 lead which was their largest of the game.

Kenny Dye reached double figures for the ninth time this season as he leads the Royals with 17.8 points per game.
-The 35 free throw attempts were the most by the Royals since the South Atlantic Conference Championship last season.
-Queens improved to 8-1 this season when outrebounding their opponent as the Royals won the rebounding total 47-41.
-The victory extended the Royals all-time series lead to 5-3. Queens has won five of the last six meetings with the Panthers.
