CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va.—Queens University of Charlotte women's rugby team successfully swept University of Virginia in both the varsity and junior varsity games over the weekend.
"This was the season's first match we could travel with two full sides," said Queens Head Women's Rugby Coach
Dana Meschisi. "Both teams fed off each other's energy from start to finish, which never went unnoticed."
The Royals varsity squad was able to dominate the Cavaliers both offensively and defensively.

Shannon Mahan each had a try.
Maddie Hughes also led the team in conversions with three. Queens was able to beat University of Virginia 43-12.
It was the same story for the junior varsity squad as the Royals stomped the Cavaliers. The Royals beat the University of Virginia 66-5.
"We were able to work out a few different combinations and made it evident what we can work on moving into the end of our regular season," said Coach Mechisi. "Ultimately, both sides stuck to our standards with ball control, won the contact area throughout the match, kept poise, and were rewarded!"
The Royals will be at home for Family Weekend as they will face Lander University for a varsity NIRA matchup and University of Northern Iowa for a junior varsity matchup on Saturday, Oct. 22 starting at 5 p.m.
