ATLANTA, GA. – Queens University of Charlotte women's cross-country standout
Letizia Martinelli was named ASUN Runner and Freshman of the Week, as announced by the league on Wednesday afternoon. The honors mark the second time this season that the Lugaggia, Switzerland native has swept the weekly honors.
"Another solid performance for Letizia." said Head Coach
Jake Krolick. "She is definitely showing some progress and performed very well with some good competition this time. She's in a great spot heading into the ASUN meet."
At the Royals XC Challenge, Martinelli posted a third-place finish and was the top collegiate finisher defeating athletes from Davidson, South Carolina, and Wake Forest. The freshman recorded a personal-best 5K finish time of 17:14.4 as she guided the Royals to a second-place finish overall.
Queens will get one more race at the Newberry Invitational on Saturday, Oct. 22 before they head to the ASUN Championships in Huntsville, Alabama on Saturday, Oct. 29. For more information on the conference championships, please visit the official
