Queens Women's Rugby Picks Up Shutout Win at West Chester

WEST CHESTER, Pa. – The Queens University of Charlotte women's rugby team shut out West Chester University of Pennsylvania, 20-0, on their home turf on Saturday morning.

"We've been hungry for a redemption match versus West Chester since last fall season where we lost 25-17," said Queens Women's Rugby Head Coach Dana Meschisi. "This is one of our most exciting matches that we get to look forward to every season! WCU is consistently a talented and tough opponent, and they played an incredibly physical match today."

Marley Wylie started the scoring for the Royals with a try to make it 5-0 and Jada Medellin followed to give the Royals a 10-0 lead. A conversion and penalty kick from Maddie Hughes increased the gap to 15-0, and Medellin would then put the icing on the cake with a try to make the score 20-0.

"West Chester is a tough opponent who's going to do their homework, study this match and bring even more heat the next chance they get," Meschisi continued. "We'll do the same!"

The Royals will look to continue their winning ways when they travel to Charlottesville, Virginia to face the University of Virginia Cavaliers on Oct. 15 at 3:00 p.m.
