CHARLOTTE, N.C - The Queens University of Charlotte women's basketball team (3-7, 2-7 SAC) will open the new year inside Curry Arena taking on the Newberry College Wolves (2-10, 2-7 SAC) on Wednesday, Jan. 5 at 5:30 p.m. This is the second meeting in the home-and-home series this season.
LAST TIME OUT
- The Royals fell to Lincoln Memorial University on Saturday, Dec. 18, 59-47, inside Curry Arena. The loss pushed the Royals to 3-7 on the year and 2-7 in South Atlantic Conference action while the Railsplitters improved to 6-5 overall and 4-4 in league play.

Kalaya Hall led all Royals scorers on the afternoon with 14 points. For the ninth time this season, Hall has reached double figures in scoring as she sits at seventh in the conference in points per game with 16.3.
Taylor Stevens posted seven points while adding four rebounds for the Royals.
Jori Wilks provided valuable minutes off the bench for the Royals and recorded a season-high 13 points.
ABOUT THE ROYALS
-Queens is currently led by Hall who is averaging 16.1 points per game this season. Additionally,
Kristy Hamze is averaging 11.6 points per game.
Kiana Barkhoff tops the league and the Royals with 3.7 blocks per game and has a total of 37 so far this season. Barkhoff is also averaging 7.6 rebounds per game, while Stevens ranks second in the league with 3.9 assists per game.
-The Royals opened their season with a win over Emory & Henry. It is the first time that Queens has kicked off their season in the win column since 2015. Two of their opponents since then have been nationally ranked.

Jen Brown is in her second season leading the Royals. Queens enters the year in rebuilding mode welcoming six newcomers to a squad of nine returners.
-The Royals' game with No. 4 Lander scheduled for Dec. 30 was canceled due to COVID-19 within the Bearcats program.
ABOUT THE WOLVES
-In their last matchup against Lander, the Wolves suffered a 84-45 loss to the Bearcats. Holly Davies finished the game with 10 points, while Tyla Stolberg added eight. Ericka Wiseley and Tyla Paraha finished with seven and six points, respectively.
-The Wolves are led by Giulia Bongiorno and Stolberg who are averaging 8.4 and 8.3 points per game, Wiseley totaling 7.3 points per game. Mylaysia Gates is grabbing 6.3 boards per games while Bongiorno leads the charge with 6.6 rebounds per game.
SERIES HISTORY
- Newberry leads the series with the Royals, 18-6. The Royals suffered a 65-57 loss to Newberry on Dec. 8, 2021 in Newberry, S.C. Hamze led all on the court with 17 points after connecting on 8-of-9 from the foul line. Hall finished with nine points and four rebounds while Barkhoff led the way under the glass with seven boards and a career-high nine blocks. Freshman forward

-Queens looks to snap a four-game losing streak to the Wolves. Their last win came on Feb. 13, 2019 when they defeated Newberry 79-57.
