Royals Look To Extend Win Streak in Gaffney

CHARLOTTE, N.C - The Queens University of Charlotte women's basketball team (6-9, 5-9 SAC) is set to travel to Gaffney, N.C., to take on Limestone University (8-5, 5-5 SAC) on Monday, Jan. 24 at 5:30 p.m. The Monday night game was rescheduled from earlier in the month due to COVID-19 protocols. 

 LAST TIME OUT
- The Royals defeated Mars Hill Saturday afternoon inside Curry Arena completing their first home-and-home sweep of the season.
 
Kalaya Hall continued her stellar play totaling 24 points, eight rebounds, seven steals, and five assists while Kristy Hamze added 15 points and three rebounds. Taylor Stevens completed play with seven points, eight rebounds, and six assists and Finley Lefevers totaled eight points and five rebounds.
 
- Freshman Malea Garrison had a standout game recording career-highs in points and rebounds with 16 and 17, respectively. The double-double was the first of her collegiate career as well.
 
ABOUT THE ROYALS
-Queens is currently led by Kalaya Hall who is averaging 18.7 points per game this season to ranks fourth in the league in the category. Hall has recorded double figures in scoring in 12 games so far this season for the Royals, scoring a career-high and single-game program record 41 points against Anderson University.

- Additionally, Kristy Hamze is averaging 11.1 points per game. Kiana Barkhoff tops the nation, league, and Royals with 3.8 blocks per game. Her season total of 42 blocks ranks seventh nationally. Barkhoff is also averaging 7.7 rebounds per game, while Taylor Stevens ranks first in the league with 4.5 assists per game.

-The Royals opened their season with a win over Emory & Henry. It is the first time that Queens has kicked off their season in the win column since 2015. Two of their opponents since then have been nationally ranked. While also getting back-to-back wins since the 2017-18 season.
 
-Head Coach Jen Brown is in her second season leading the Royals. Queens is in rebuilding mode welcoming six newcomers to a squad of nine returners this season.

ABOUT THE SAINTS
- In their last meeting, Limestone suffered an 81-60 loss to Anderson on Saturday inside Timken Center. Senior guard Quin Byrd finished the game with a team-best 21 points, while graduate Reagan McCray added nine points, four rebounds, and three assists.

- Byrd leads the Saints on the court averaging 19.3 points per game, and ranks second in the league. She is also shooting an impressive 42-percent from the floor.
 
SERIES HISTORY
- Wednesday marks the 43rd meeting between the Royals and Limestone. Queens leads the series 22-20 despite being on a current five-game losing streak which they look to snap.
 
-In their last meeting during the 2020-21 season, the Saints defeated the Royals 93-64. Amari Davis and Hall finished with 11 and 10 points, respectively, to round out the double-digit scorers for Queens.
