MURFREESBORO, N.C.- The Queens University of Charlotte men's soccer team (2-2-1, 1-0-1 SAC), ranked 10
th in the region, traveled to Murfreesboro to face Chowan University (4-2-, 2-1 CC), falling 2-1 in double overtime. The Hawks are ranked seventh in the region.

Chowan controlled possession in the opening half outshooting Queens, 7-2, though no team would score a goal as the game remained tied at 0-0 at the break.

In the second, Chowan's Toby Sims scored in the 61st minute to give the Hawks a 1-0 lead.

The Royals answered in the 68th minute when senior forward
Andre Castro scored his first goal of the season on a header. Both
Elvis Menayese and
Felipe Mendonca were assisted on the play.

Tonight's overtime periods saw a combined total of seven shots between both teams. However, Chowan's David Falleiros scored the game's golden goal in the 109
th minute rebounding his own shot and putting the ball in the back of the net.

Chowan outshot Queens, 23-7, totaling nine shots on goal. Castro led the Royals with two shots on goal.

Nicolai Andersen totaled seven saves, while Chowan's Charlies Farrar recorded two saves.

The Royals will remain on the road for their next game traveling to Mars Hill, N.C., to take on Mars Hills University on Saturday, September 25. The match is set to begin at 3:30 p.m.
