BELMONT, N.C.- The Queens University of Charlotte field hockey team faced Belmont Abbey College on the road this evening in less-than-ideal weather conditions, falling 2-0 to the Crusaders. The loss brings the Royals' overall record to 2-5 and their South Atlantic Conference Carolinas record to 1-4. The Crusaders remain undefeated in league play at 3-0 while their overall record sits at 5-1.

Tonight's game was halted late in the first quarter due to lightning in the area. Following the weather delay, the Crusaders got on the board quickly with a goal in the 12
th. A second goal soon followed in the 13
th giving Belmont Abbey a 2-0 lead that they held until the end of regulation.

Queens was outshot, 15-8, putting five shots on goal to Belmont Abbey's nine. Both
Maya Forbes and
Molly Walter led the Royals with two shots on goal each.

Marlee Geppert recorded the loss in goal after totaling seven saves.

Queens will be on the road for their next match as they travel to challenge No. 1 Shippensburg on Sunday, Sept. 26. Game time is scheduled for 11 a.m.
