CHARLOTTE, N.C.- The Queens University of Charlotte field hockey team hosted Limestone University (3-1, 3-0) in their home opener at Bessant Field this evening, falling 3-0 to the Saints and bringing their record to 2-3 on the year and 1-2 in league play.
Â
On paper, it seemed as if the Royals had control offensively in today's match outshooting the Saints 8-3, putting four shots on goal. However, Queens would be unlucky in finding the back of the cage on any of their shots this evening while the Saints scored on each shot they took. The Royals also earned six penalty corners opportunities to Limestone's two.
Â
Kelly Diplock of the Saints would be first to put her team on the board scoring in the 22
nd giving Limestone a 1-0 lead at the half. She then scored once more early in the third to extend Limestone's lead to two, 2-0, before assisting Samantha D'Antonio on the Saints' final score of the night in the 42
nd.
Â
Queens will return to Bessant Field on Sunday, September 19 when they host Converse for a 2 p.m. game.
