Felix Duchampt Earns Spot on Romanian Olympic Triathlon Team

ROMANIA- Queens University of Charlotte has a new addition to the Tokyo Olympic Games as Felix Duchampt will compete for the Romanian triathlon team making him the second athlete to qualify as a triathlete from Queens thus far.
 
During his time at Queens, Duchampt was a standout cross country and track and field athlete who also competed on the swimming team. He later became the assistant coach for Sonni Dyer, head triathlon coach, when the triathlon team was introduced at Queens. 
 
Dyer spoke upon Duchampt's accomplishment stating, "Another Queens alum on the Tokyo Olympic triathlon starting line. We couldn't be happier for Felix. As our program's first assistant coach, we're happy to see that he has reached the pinnacle of a sport because of the example that sets for all queens triathletes to follow."
 
"We are very excited for Felix" Jim Vahrenkamp, director of cross country and track & field, said about the former cross country All-American and three-time conference runner of the year. "Securing a spot at the Olympic Games is one of the most challenging achievements in the realm of sport. It requires dedication, sacrifice, commitment, and perseverance. These are all qualities that Felix had as an athlete here at Queens. We look forward to his continued success on the biggest stage in sport. Congrats, Felix!"

Jeff Dugdale, associate athletic director for strategic planning and leadership development/ director of swimming operations commented. "He thrived and leveraged all the resources of Queens to his advantage. He graduated with a remarkable experience and has continued to embrace a lifestyle of excellence. Congratulations on your appointment to the Romania Olympic Team. It will be a blast to watch our Olympians and Paralympians from Queens on the world stage in Tokyo."
 
The 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games, postponed due to COVID -19, will be held from July 23- August 8.
