CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The 13
th-ranked Queens University of Charlotte men's tennis team won its fourth straight South Atlantic Conference match and sixth straight match overall with a 7-0 sweep of Mars Hill University on Saturday afternoon at the Howard Levine Tennis Center.
Doubles play was highlighted by identical 6-3 wins a Nos. 2 and 3 by the duos of
Paolo Bompieri/
Kasper Rolfsen and
Jan Malmon/
Yoan Roussinov, respectively. The tandem of
Edoardo Bottino/
Edoardo Cecere won 6-4 in the top doubles flight.
Singles play began with a victory at No. 2 for Cecere when his opponent was forced to retire early in the second set, while Malmon was a 6-0, 6-1 winner at No. 6 to earns Queens' third point. Bompieri clinched the match decision with a 6-1, 6-1 triumph at No. 2 as Roussinov, Rolfsen, and Bottino also won their singles matches.
Queens returns to action next Wednesday, March 10 on the road against rival No. 16 Wingate University in Wingate, N.C.
