Winthrop Invitational
RALEIGH, N.C./ROCK HILL, S.C.- The Queens University of Charlotte men's and women's track and field teams continued competition this weekend at the Raleigh Relays hosted by NC State while also competing at the Adidas Winthrop Invitational in Rock Hill.
"We have student-athletes competing at DI meets this weekend at Winthrop and NC State," Queens director of cross country and track and field
Jim Vahrenkamp stated. "We had some great times in the 1500 for the men last night.
At the Raleigh Relays, the Royals saw
Jan Lukas Becker record an NCAA DII automatic qualifying time of 29:15.65 in the men's 10,000-meter run. He finished 15
th overall in the race.
Erick Sanchez also ran in the race finishing 43
rd in 30:43.01.
Stevie Lawrence-Wrist and
Anna Janke also competed at the Raleigh Relays racing in the 1500-meter run. Lawrence recorded a time of 4:40.94 and Janke finish in 4:49.32.
At Winthrop,
Martin Knauer took first place in the shot put with a mark of 18.01-meters (59-1.25). His throw was a DII provisional mark.
Amadeus Waluga finished 13
th with a mark of 12.75-meters (41-10).
Esma Pajt took second in the hammer throw after recording a mark of 51-meters (167-4).
To'Mara Carmichael took fifth with a throw of 49.91-meters (163-9).
On the track,
Madison Webster led the Royals' 800-meter run group snagging a fourth-place finish in 2:16.41.
Gillian Kasitz followed in sixth place and
Allyson Arellano took 10
th place.
In the men's 800-meter run,
Migael Loubser took second in 1:55.60 while
Eduardo Leon finished 16
th.
Sprinter's
Ashlee Lowe and
Alejandro Ramos also saw time on the track today racing in the 200-meter dash. Lowe took 13
th in the women's race while Ramos finished 14
th in the men's.
"Today, we had some great marks highlighted by an auto mark for Jan Lukas in the 10k," Vahrenkamp added. "At Winthrop Martin threw a national mark which was exciting. We had several women run well in the 800m led by
Madison Webster. It's exciting to see everyone competing and supporting one another."
The Royals will be back in action tomorrow for the final day of both the Raleigh Relays and the Winthrop Invitational.
