CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Queens University of Charlotte women's volleyball team hosted Lincoln Memorial University in its home opener on Friday night, sweeping the Railsplitters by a 3-0 (25-13, 25-19, 25-15) score inside Curry Arena.
For the second time this season, the Royals (3-1, 3-1 SAC) held an opponent to a negative hitting performance as Lincoln Memorial (1-3, 1-3 SAC) hit -.025 in the loss. Three different Royals recorded double digit digs, led by
Casey Tarvin's 16, followed by 14 from
Chanel Turner. Libero
JayCee Jones totaled 10 digs for Queens as well.
Queens rebounded from an early deficit in the first set and built an 18-7 lead following seven unanswered points being a service run from
Lindsay Elmore. Elmore closed the set with a kill to give the Royals a 1-0 match lead.
The Royals dominance continued in the final two sets, outhitting Lincoln Memorial .221 to .024 to win their second consecutive match.
Tarvin led all players with 10 kills, while middle
Logan Witt followed with eight kills and a .333 hitting mark. Setter
Brooke Farley totaled 29 assists and nine digs and freshman
Kate Majewski had nine digs of her own in a reserve role.
Queens returns to the road on Tuesday, March 16 to take on Mars Hill University at 7 p.m.
