MARS HILL, N.C. – The Queens University of Charlotte women's volleyball team suffered a four-set loss at the hands of Mars Hill University on Tuesday night, falling 3-1 (25-22, 13-25, 25-20, 25-20) to Lions inside Chambers Gymnasium.

It was a defensive battle throughout as both sides combined for 203 total digs and 17 total blocks. Queens had four players record at least 20 digs with JayCee Jones and Chanel Turner leading the way with 22 apiece. Kate Majewski had a career-best 21 digs in a reserve role and Casey Tarvin followed with 20 digs of her own.

Mars Hill tallied a win in the first set before the Royals responded with a dominant second frame, hitting .313 on offense with just three attack errors. However, the Lions' defense road to the occasion in the third, holding Queens to a negative hitting mark to regain the match lead.

In the fourth set, Queens held and early 7-6 lead following a kill from Tarvin before a 6-1 run gave the Lions a five-point lead.

The advantage stretched as large as seven points, 17-10, for Mars Hill until consecutive kills from Lindsay Elmore and Tarvin as well as an MHU attack error cut the deficit to 20-18 late. Mars Hill's Jana Cuk closed out the match herself, scoring the final two points on a kill and service aces to preserve the win.
