CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The 13^th-ranked Queens University of Charlotte men's tennis team opened South Atlantic Conference play on Friday afternoon, defeating Lenoir-Rhyne University 6-1 at the Howard Levine Tennis Center. The Royals and Bears also played a rare non-conference match with Queens collecting a 6-0 decision before play was halted due to darkness.
 
In the first match of the afternoon, Queens won all three doubles contests including a 6-1 decision in the second flight by the duo of Euan Lynes and Kasper Rolfsen.
 
The Royals opened singles play with a win by forfeit at No. 6, followed by a 6-3, 6-1 win in the top flight by Paolo Bompieri. Freshmen Arthur Bazil and Berk Enc each won by identical 6-0, 6-0 scores, while Yoan Roussinov was a 6-1, 6-0 winner in his matchup in the third position.
 
The second match of the evening also began with a sweep of doubles competition by Queens as the pairing of Filippo Ercole and Lynes highlighted the win with a6-0 victory at No. 2 doubles.
 
Two wins by forfeit extended the Queens lead before Aidan Davy secured a win in the third flight. Brothers Lleyton and Zachary Dacuba won their matchups at No. 2 and No. 4, respectively, to provide the Royals with the sweep.
 
Queens returns to the court on Monday, February 22 when the team hosts Newberry College at 3 p.m. for a  conference contest.
