BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. – The Queens University of Charlotte men's tennis team opened up the 2021 season on Wednesday afternoon against NCAA Division I Gardner-Webb University, falling 5-2 at the Webb Tennis Complex.
Playing by traditional NCAA Division I rules which awards one points to the institution that wins 2-of-3 doubles matches, the Runnin' Bulldogs took an early lead after winning at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles.
In singles play, GWU went ahead 5-0 before Queens got on the board with wins at No. 4 and No. 1. Junior
Yoan Roussinov was a 7-5, 6-3 winner in the fourth flight, while sophomore
Edoardo Bottino won 7-5, 7-5 in the top singles position.
Queens returns to the court on Friday when the team hosts Lenoir-Rhyne University in a non-conference match at the Howard Levine Tennis Center at 2 p.m.
