Royals Fall at UVA Wise

Wise, Va. -  The Queens University of Charlotte women's basketball team (1-8, 1-7 SAC) traveled to face UVA Wise (9-1, 9-1 SAC) this evening, falling 93-53.
 
Kalaya Hall led the Royals with 16 points and six assists while Christina Deng recorded her second double-double in a row finishing with 15 points, 11 rebounds, and four steals. Amari Davis totaled 12 points and four rebounds. 
 
Queens' Hall scored the first bucket of tonight's game to give the Royals their only lead of the night early before a 12-0 run by the Cavaliers in the opening period helped them take a 22-12 lead into the second quarter. Queens continued to struggle on the offensive end in the second as UVA Wise put together an 18-0 run en route to taking a 49-21 lead at the halftime break.
 
The Royals' shooting improved in the third as they connected on 6-of-13 field goals to post a 46.15 shooting percentage. However, UVA Wise continued their hot shooting, increasing the margin to 34, 72-38, by the end of the period. The Cavaliers then shot over 80-percent from the floor in the fourth to extend the margin to 40 by the time the final horn sounded. 
 
Kalee Johnson led the Cavaliers with a double-double, totaling 23 points and 10 rebounds.
 
The Royals will return home on Wednesday, February 3 to take on Lincoln Memorial University inside of Curry Arena. Tipoff is scheduled at 5:30 p.m.
