CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The No. 7/16 Queens University of Charlotte men's basketball team will return to the court on Wednesday night at 7:30 p.m. when they welcome the Catawba Indians (1-1) for the first South Atlantic Conference clash of the new season. The Royals are coming off a 2-0 start to the season when they dropped Young Harris College and Emmanuel College over the weekend in the Southeast Regional Challenge.
Wednesday night's meeting will mark the 25
th contest between Queens and Catawba, with the Royals owning a 20-4 advantage. Queens has beaten Catawba in 18 straight games dating back to Feb. 5, 2014. Last season, the Royals upended the Indians 77-59 in Curry Arena behind
Kenny Dye's 18 points, five rebounds, and three assists.

- In the season opener last Friday against Young Harris, the Royals set a new program record with 133 points scored as eight Royals finished with double figures. Quan McCluney led the charge with 19 points on 5-of-10 shooting from behind the arc.
- Head Coach Bart Lundy picked up his 400th career victory in the dominant season opener. Lundy enters his 14th season at Queens and 20th season overall as a collegiate head coach.
- In the final game of the regional challenge last Saturday, Queens welcomed regional foe Emmanuel to Curry Arena and dropped the Lions 83-62 behind Kenny Dye's 15 points, seven rebounds, and seven assists.
- Queens jumped in the national spotlight as the Royals came in at No. 7 in the D2SIDA Media Week One Poll, No. 1 in the D2SIDA Southeast Region Poll, and No. 16 in the NABC Preseason Coaches' Poll.
- Returning their top six scorers and top five rebounders, Queens was picked to finish atop the South Atlantic Conference's Preseason Poll, as voted on by the League's coaches. The Royals received over half the first-place votes and 150 total votes as the preseason favorites.
- Kenny Dye and Jamari Smith were each named to the SAC's First-Team Preseason All-Conference Team and Gavin Rains earned Second-Team honors.
Catawba College (1-1)
- The Indians opened the new campaign victorious over Johnson C. Smith, 81-69, before falling to UNC Pembroke, 92-68.
- Catawba was picked to finish seventh in the SAC Men's Basketball Preseason Poll after posting a 9-11 overall record last season.
- The Indians have been led by Caleb Robinson averaging 16.5 points per game and 8.5 rebounds per game.
