No. 19/20 Royals Prepare for Rematch with Limestone on Saturday

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The No. 19/20 Queens University of Charlotte men's basketball team concludes a stretch of four games in eight days when it welcomes the newest South Atlantic Conference member Limestone University to Curry Arena on Saturday. Tipoff is scheduled for 2 p.m. on the Queens Sports Network.
 
Saturday marks the 36th all-time meeting between the two schools with Queens holding a 24-11 advantage in the series. The Royals are 12-4 against the Saints in Charlotte and are 6-4 in the last 10 meetings. The two sides met most recently in early-December with Queens collecting a 66-58 victory in Gaffney, S.C.
 
Queens Athletics will allow up to 25 fans to be in attendance at all home contests scheduled to take place inside the Curry Arena for the 2020-21. Fans allowed in the building must be listed on the team's pass list located at the ticket gate and will be required to wear masks while on campus.
 
IN THE BACKCOURT
 
-The Royals start the duo of juniors Kenny Dye and Kelyn Pennie in the backcourt. Dye, a SAC Preseason All-Conference selection, averages a team-high 14.3 points per game while registering team-highs of 3.6 assists and 1.9 steals per game.
 
- Pennie chips in 10.4 points per contest and ranks among the League leaders making 48.8 percent (20-for-41) of his 3-point attempts.
 
-Senior guard Ayo Dada is the only Saint averaging double figures as he leads they way with 15 points per game to go along with 4.7 rebounds and 1.7 steals per contest.
 
IN THE FRONT COURT
 
-Down low, Queens sophomore Gavin Rains controls the paint with averages of 12.3 points and 9.7 rebounds per game. He ranks second in the SAC in rebounds per game and is among the Top 15 shooting 55.1 percent from the floor. Fellow sophomore Jay'Den Turner is also among the League leaders with 6.1 rebounds per game and redshirt-sophomore Jamari Smith scored nine points in his season debut on Wednesday night.
 
-Sophomore Ben Gahlert is second on the team with 9.7 points per game and shoots 57.9 percent from the field, while junior Stephen Edoka leads the team with seven rebounds per contest.
 
ON THE SIDELINES
 
-Queens Head Coach Bart Lundy is in his 19th season overall and 13th season at Queens. During his career with the Royals, Lundy is the program's winningest coach with a 292-95 (.754) record and has a 388-182 (.680) career coaching record at Queens and NCAA Division I High Point University.
 
-Kyle Perry is in his second season with Limestone and third overall as a collegiate head coach after previously spending one season at NCAA Division I institution USC Upstate. Perry has an 11-52 career record.
 
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
 
-The Royals are 5-2 overall with a 4-1 record in SAC play. Queens averages 75 points per game on offense and has a plus-9.1 margin in rebounds per game. Defensively, Queens has forced opponents into 16.1 turnovers per contest, converting those miscues into 19.1 points per game.
 
-Last time out, Queens ran its winning streak to three games with a 77-59 victory over Catawba College inside Curry Arena on Wednesday. Dye led the way with 18 points, shooting 5-for-11 from the field and 3-for-4 from 3-point range, to go along with five rebounds and three assists. Pennie followed with 14 points, while redshirt-freshman AJ McKee had a career-high 12 points in 16 minutes off the bench.
 
-The Saints are 0-3 overall and 0-3 in conference play with their most recent contest being a 52-51 loss to Coker University on Wednesday night in Hartsville, S.C.
 
-Limestone's offense ranks near the bottom of the League with 61 points per game and a 38.2 team shooting percentage. On the other end of the floor, the Saints give up just 73.7 points per contest and are minus-11.7 in rebounds per game.
 
-In the previous matchup, Queens opened South Atlantic Conference play with a 66-58 victory on the road. Rains guided the Royals with a career-high 20 points to go along with 14 rebounds for his first double-double of the season. Queens never trailed in the contest, holding a 54-31 advantage on the boards, including 22 on the offensive end that led to 19 second chance points.
