CHARLOTTE, N.C.
 – A multi-time All-American and National Champion, former Queens University of Charlotte swimmer Marius Kusch is now the program's most recent Olympian.

In collaboration with the German Olympic Sports Confederation (DOSB), the German Swimming Federation (DSV) has released a revised selection policy for the postponed 2020 Olympic Games. With updated qualification procedures in place, Kusch has qualified to represent his home country in the 100m Butterfly in the 2021 Summer Olympics.

"We have set up the criteria for an Olympic nomination in such a way that our most recently strongest performers can focus on the Olympics in their training processes as long as possible in this difficult time.

"As always, the requirements for participating in the Olympics were and will remain very high. It is to be welcomed that our athletes now have clarity in this difficult time and can adjust their preparations accordingly. I wish all Olympic hopes that they can get through this special season in good health and achieve their goals," said German National Coach Bernd Berkhahn.

Kusch has a wide array of experience in international competition, winning the bronze medal in the 100m Butterfly at the 2017 European Championships and competing on Germany's 4x100m Medley Relay team in the 2018 European Championships, once again earning a bronze medal.
