HARROGATE, TENN. – The Queens University of Charlotte men's volleyball team opened its Tennessee road trip with a 3-0 (25-12, 25-16, 25-23) loss to Lincoln Memorial University on Saturday in an Independent Volleyball Association matchup inside of Mary Mars Gym.
The Lincoln Memorial (11-4, 2-0 IVA) offense hit .383 in the match, led by opposite Evan Cory with 17 kills. In contrast, Queens (5-9, 1-1 IVA) hit just .090 in the match. Junior
Tristan Santoyo led the Royals with 10 kills from the outside.
Lincoln Memorial never trailed in the first set en route to a double-digit victory before controlling the second set and building a 2-0 match lead.
The third set of play saw Queens build an early 8-6 lead before five unanswered points from the Railsplitters put the home team back in front. The Royals closed the margin to a one-point deficit, 24-23, late in the frame but Cory ended the match with his game-high 17
th kill.
The Royals remain in The Volunteer State tomorrow to take the court against first-year IVA member Tusculum University in Greeneville, Tenn. at 2 p.m.
