ANDERSON, S.C. – The 21
st-ranked Queens University of Charlotte men's tennis team won its fifth straight match and second straight South Atlantic Conference contest with a 5-2 victory over Anderson University on Wednesday.
Queens won two of three doubles matches to earn the first point of the day, beginning with a 6-4 win by the top duo of
Sebastian Meum and
Kasper Rolfsen. The tandem of
Jan Malmon and
Edoardo Cecere won 7-5 in the No. 3 position to give the Royals the lead.
In singles play, Anderson quickly took the lead with wins at Nos. 3 and 1 before Cecere evened the match score with a 6-4, 6-2 win in the fourth position. Meum earned the match-clinching victory via a 6-4, 4-6, 7-6 battle at No.5, while sophomore Yoan Russinov won 6-1, 7-5 for the final point of the match.
The Royals have a few weeks away from competition before taking court against Lincoln Memorial University on Saturday, March 14 at the Howard Levine Tennis Center.
