CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Returning to the court following more than a week away from competition, the Queens University of Charlotte men's volleyball team opened conference play in dominating fashion defeating Alderson Broaddus University 3-0 (25-15, 25-14, 25-13) inside Curry Arena.
The Royals (5-7, 1-0 IVA) began Independent Volleyball Association play by hitting a season-high .415 on offense, led by 10 kills and a .667 hitting performance from junior
Tristan Santoyo on the outside. Defensively, Queens held the Battlers (0-7, 0-4 IVA) to a -.051 hitting mark and totaled eight blocks.
Queens never trailed in the match, leading all three sets from start to finish and hitting a .458 as a team in the third and final set of play.
Junior
Josh Bragg totaled seven kills and hit .538, while fellow juniors
Nic Cavallaro,
Brian Ford, and
Aleksandar Perisic had four kills apiece. Perisic led the team with five total blocks and Santoyo had a team-high seven digs. Junior
Jack Mitchner guided the offense with 21 assists in just two sets of action.
The Royals are back in action tomorrow night against Barton College at 7 p.m. in the Levine Center.
