CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The 14
th-ranked Queens University of Charlotte men's lacrosse team improved to 3-1 on the year after picking up a commanding 17-4 win over Lees-McRae College (0-5) this evening in their 2020 home opener at Dickson Field.
 
After quickly jumping out to an 8-0 run in the first quarter, the Royals were able to coast to victory as everyone dressed saw time on the field tonight. Additionally, Queens' defense was able to hold the Bobcats scoreless until they found the back of the net at 5:34 in the second.
 
The Royals outshot Lees-McRae, 55-19, putting 35 shots on goal. Queens also won the battle for ground balls, 46-18, and won 21-of-25 faceoffs with 
Drew Flack going 9-12 in the circle and 
Alex Alonso going 12-15. The two also combined for 13 ground balls.
 
Queens' offense was led by 
Joseph Torres while 
Quinn Tallant, 
Laszlo Henning, and 
Eric Fitz each added two goals and one assist. 
Jack Riddle chipped in with three points on one goal and two assists. Defensively, 
David Byrne led with three caused turnovers while 
Kyle Hornik gave up zero goals in 11:30. 
Iain Moede saw 48:30 in the net and recorded seven saves.
 
On the opposite end, Mike Moore led Lees-McRae with two goals while Jack Cruz took the loss in goal after totaling nine saves in 30 minutes. Josh Csanyi also recorded nine saves in goal for the Bobcats.  
 
Queens will be back in action on Saturday, February 22 when they travel to West Palm Beach, Fla., to take on Palm Beach Atlantic. Play is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m.
