CHARLOTTE, N.C. – A second half rally gave the Lincoln Memorial University Railsplitters a 55-51 victory over Queens University of Charlotte on Saturday afternoon in South Atlantic Conference action inside Curry Arena.
After trailing by three, 14-11, following the opening quarter of action, the Royals (4-16, 3-11 SAC) used a strong second quarter to carry a 27-23 lead into the halftime break.
However, the Railsplitters (7-11, 6-8 SAC) quickly cut the deficit to one, 29-28, before taking the lead at 30-29 with 5:26 to play in the third quarter. Queens retook the lead one minute later on a 3-pointer from
Tia McMillian, but Lincoln Memorial went on an 8-0 run to jump back ahead.
In the fourth, Queens twice got the deficit down to one point at 50-49 and 52-51 but missed five opportunities to tie or take the lead in the final minute of play lead to the loss.
Junior
Kristian Eanes was a perfect 9-for-9 from the free throw line and led all players with 21 points to go along with four steals. McMillian was the only other Royal in double figures, finishing with 14 points on 4-of-9 shooting from deep.
The Royals remain at home for the next contest on Wednesday, February 5 as they host Coker University as a part of the South Atlantic Conference's #RespectOurGame initiative. First tip is scheduled for 5 p.m. from the Levine Center.
