CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Queens University of Charlotte men's swimming team returned to action on Wednesday evening, competing in the first day of the Wingate Winter Round Robin. The invitational's afternoon session opened with the Royals racing against the Eagles of Carson-Newman University inside the Levine Aquatic Center.
The Royals won two of the five events, as sophomore
Cezary Butkiewicz was the team's lone individual winner. The Warsaw, Poland native reach the wall in a Division II 'B' cut time of 1:49.62 in the 200-Yard I.M. Fellow sophomore
Finn Howard was the race's runner-up.
Queens' final win of the evening came in the 400-Yard Medley Relay as the foursome of Howard,
Carson Sanocki,
Kyle Johnson and Butkiewicz turned in a time of 3:18.65 to take the top spot. The Royals' relay team of Howard, Johnson, Butkiewicz and
David Wahlen collected a runner-up finish in the 200-Yard Freestyle Relay, just .7 of a second behind the Eagles.
Queens returns to the pool tomorrow against Lenoir-Rhyne University at 1 p.m.
