Royals Extend Win Streak to Four with Win at Coker

HARTSVILLE, S.C.– The Queens University of Charlotte field hockey team (5-2, 4-1) extended its win streak to four games this evening after collecting a 3-1 South Atlantic Conference Carolinas win at Coker University (3-4, 2-3). The win also moves the Royals into first place in the conference standings.
 
Jenna Lloyd, Molly Walter, and Sta'sha Waterfield each scored goals this evening as Queens outshot Coker 17-6 to put 13 shots on goal. Avian Thompson collected the win in goal after totaling three saves.
 
Following a first quarter of play that ended with the score tied 0-0, the Royals began to take control of the game outshooting the Cobras 5-1 in the second quarter to take a 1-0 lead into the halftime break.
 
Queens then continued its offensive attack in the second half adding a goal to the board in each of the third and fourth quarters.
 
Kelly Mason scored the Cobras' single goal of the game while Kelsey Gibbons recorded 10 saves.
 
The Royals are back at home on Sunday, September 29 when they welcome Bellarmine University to Bessant Field. Play is scheduled to begin at 12 p.m.
