CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Queens University of Charlotte men's rugby team is ranked fifth in week one of the National Men's Division II College Rugby rankings, FloRugby released Wednesday.
The Royals are currently 1-0 after most recently defeating Duke University on the road, 57-8. Queens was led by freshman
Dominic Tianga and junior
Ben Osborne who each recorded two tries. Five more Royals each posted one try to the board in the match, including
Devinaire Hayes,
Stanton Johnson,
Rylee Ellsworth,
Marshall Frank, and
Benjamin Clipstone.
Freshman
Carson Green also led the team in conversions with four of his own, while his fellow freshman teammate
Ben Stapleton recorded two in the win.
The squad hosts their home opener tomorrow against Virginia Military Institute Saturday, September 21. The men will take the field following the women's match at 2 p.m. at the Queens Sports Complex.
