DUE WEST, S.C. – Led by two goals in the first half, the Queens University of Charlotte men's soccer team (2-0) remained perfect on the season on Wednesday night as the Royals went on to edge Erskine College (0-2) by a final score of 2-1 in Due West, S.C.

Facing its first road challenge of 2019 and following a top-25 win to open the season on Sunday, Queens kept its momentum rolling early on against the Flying Fleet, scoring the first two goals of the contest and jumping out to a 2-0 lead before the half.
Keegan Burton got the Royals on the board first when he converted on a penalty kick at the 12:42 mark for his first goal of the season.Â

Michael Hornsby recorded his second point of the season when he assisted to
David Alvarez who found the back of the net in the 40th minute for the two-goal lead. Erskine responded in the second half with a goal to cut the lead to one, but the comeback bid fell short as the Royals held the Flying Fleet scoreless for the final 28 minutes of play.Â

For Alvarez, the goal was his second in two games to start the season, both of which are game-winners.Â

Queens put five shots on goal on a total of seven shots overall. On the flip side, Erskine placed four of its eight shots on goal. Royals' goalkeeper
Sebastian Kalk was credited with three saves.Â

The Royals will look to remain unbeaten as Queens next heads to Francis Marion University for its second of four consecutive away games. The two teams will face of on Saturday, Sept. 14 at 7 p.m. in Florence, S.C.Â
