CHARLOTTE, N.C. – In just year two of its existence, Queens Sports Nutrition has helped to establish the Charlotte Sports Registered Dietitian Group as the organization held its inaugural meeting on August 28 in the Levine Center.
At the meeting, sports dietitians from local colleges, healthcare facilities, and training facilities came to collaborate and share best practices.
"It's an outstanding start for various institutions to come together and share knowledge to enhance student-athlete's performance and overall health," Queens assistant athletic director for sports medicine and performance
Brandon Johnson.
In attendance was Ashley Licata (Winthrop University), Elizabeth Allred (Davidson College), Jennifer Lowrie (Atrium Health), Alicia Fogarty (Atrium Health), Taryn Cullen (Novant EXOS), Tracy Bonoffski (UNCC),
Christin Dow (Queens University of Charlotte) and Elise McVicar (Atrium Health). All of whom are registered dietitians and board certified sports specialist in dietetics.
The Charlotte Sports RD Group will meet quarterly at various locations and has laid ground roots for the future of performance nutrition in Charlotte and surrounding areas.
