Queens Sports Medicine Adds Willie Phillips to Staff

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Queens University of Charlotte Assistant Athletic Director for Sports Medicine and Performance Brandon Johnson announced the addition of Willie Phillips to his staff today. Phillips joins the sports medicine department as an assistant athletic trainer after most recently working at Huntersville Health & Rehabilitation.
 
"Willie brings a wealth of knowledge and experience in the area of sport rehabilitation," Johnson stated. "We are constantly elevating our sports medicine team, with knowledgeable, and well-rounded ATCs."
 
Phillips has spent the past year serving as the athletic training department head at Huntersville Health & Rehabilitation. Prior to that he served as the assistant athletic trainer at the University of the Cumberlands from 2011-2016 providing coverage for 200 student-athletes on the wrestling, swimming, tennis, and volleyball teams. He also supervised the department's graduate assistants and work study students. Phillips also spent time at the Tolbert Center for Rehabilitation and Wellness as a physician extender, and Athletic Physical Therapy as an athletic trainer.
 
"I am honored to be a part of such an amazing university," Phillips commented. "I look forward to utilizing my skills to add to this great sports medicine team."
 
Phillips received his bachelor's degree in athletic training from California State University Northridge before obtaining a master's degree in kinesiology from Fresno Pacific University. He is a member of NATA, CATA, MAATA, and SEATA.
