CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Queens University of Charlotte baseball program is pleased to announce the signing of seven transfers to its roster for the upcoming 2020 season. Five of the signees join the Royals from a variety of junior college programs, while one signee is from the NCAA Division I ranks and another is from NCAA Division II.
"We are super excited about the transfers that we have coming in for our 2020 season. This group has seen success at the NCAA Division 1, 2, and Junior College levels," said Assistant Baseball Coach and Recruiting Coordinator
Andrew Knight. "We have a very solid group of guys returning and we expect our transfers to come in and contribute in a variety of roles while bringing depth and experience to our program as we look to establish a winning tradition here at Queens."
Chris Brady is a 6'1", 180lb catcher from Arlington, Virginia. Brady will be a junior after spending two seasons at Patrick Henry Community College where he played in 50 total games behind the plate.
He collected 28 total hits, including four doubles, four triples, and two home runs to go along with 25 runs scored and 15 RBI. Defensively, Brady turned in a .990 fielding percentage and recorded a 32.1% runners caught stealing percentage.
Nick Charleson is a 6'2", 175lb right-handed pitcher from Laurinburg, N.C. Charleson will be a junior after spending two seasons at Southeastern Community College – Whiteville.
He made 32 appearances on the mound for the Rams as a reliever, posting a 3-2 record with one save across 52.5 innings of work with 46 strikeouts.
RJ Conner is a 5'11", 170lb middle infielder from Statesville, N.C. Conner will be a junior after spending two seasons at Catawba Valley Community College where helped lead the team to 75 total wins in two years.
He played in 72 total games, collecting 48 hits, including seven doubles, one triple, and six home runs to go along with 59 runs scored and 40 RBI. Conner had 36 stolen bases and was thrown out just six times.
Drake Harris is a 6'3", 210lb utility man from Raleigh, N.C. Harris, will be a senior after spending three years at NCAA Division I USC Upstate as an infielder.
He saw action in 91 games with 77 starts and collected 69 total hits, including nine doubles and three triples, to go along with 35 runs scored and 27 RBI.
Zach McGinnis is a 5'11", 175lb infielder from Denver, N.C. He will be a junior after spending two seasons at Rockingham Community College.
He played in 88 career games and registered a .364/.483/.568 slash line with 111 total hits, including 31 doubles, 11 triples and three home runs to go along with 103 runs scored and 77 RBI. McGinnis also collected 33 stolen bases in 37 attempts.
Seth Morgan is a 5'10", 190lb outfielder from Charlotte, N.C. Morgan will be a junior after spending his freshman season at Limestone College and his sophomore year at Southeastern Community College – Whiteville. He is the fifth former Ram to join the Navy and Vegas Gold.
In his lone season at Southeastern, Morgan played in 17 games and tallied eight hits, including three doubles and one home run to go along with eight RBI and five runs scored.
Chris Shepherd is a 5'9", 200lb outfielder from Durham, N.C. He will be a sophomore after spending his first collegiate season at Winston-Salem State University.
He played in 22 games for the Rams, collecting nine hits, including two doubles, one triple, and two home runs to go along with eight runs scored and five RBI.
The Royals begin their 2020 season, the second year of NCAA Division II baseball for Queens, in early February.
