Hanna Scott scored today's game-winner on a feed from
Kara Blanchard to lift the 10
th-ranked Royals past No. 7 Rollins College (15-4) in the quarterfinal round of the NCAA DII Women's Lacrosse Championship. The 14-13 overtime win advances Queens University of Charlotte (19-2) to the semifinal round for the first time in program history.

Clare Short stated. "Going to the Final Four was a goal of ours this year and now it's happening. We have worked hard and believed in ourselves this entire season."

Trailing 9-8 at the start of the second half, Queens found the back of the net three times in a row to move in front, 11-9, with 25:21 to play. The Royals maintained control of the game until a 3-0 run by the Tars gave them a one-point lead again, 13-12, with just 7:23 left in regulation.

Rollins then won the next draw and headed down the field looking to run time off the clock, but Queens'
Cammy Case caused a turnover to give the Royals an offensive possession where Blanchard was able to score and knot the game up at 13-13 with three minutes left on the clock.

Following the Royals' possession of the subsequent draw, a series of turnovers riddled both teams with Rollins finding themselves holding a chance to put the game away on a free-position shot with just 16-seconds to play. However, Queens'
Chase Brokaw would come up with a huge save and the Royals' defense held strong to force the overtime period. Brokaw's save on the play marked the 400
th of her collegiate career making her just the second Queens women's lacrosse player to reach the milestone. Â

The Royals led the entire first half of today's game until a 4-1 spurt from Rollins in the final five minutes of the half put the Tars in front, 9-8, heading into the break.

Queens was outshot 35-22, putting 17 shots on goal compared to the Tars' 27 shots on goal. Rollins also won the battle for ground balls, 25-16, while the Royals dominated at the draw winning 18-of-28.
Sydney Hussey led with eight draw controls and
Sydney Bracken tallied six.

Blanchard led the Royals with seven points after recording three goals and four assists. Scott and
Kyleigh Masteran totaled four goals each. Defensively, Case led with four caused turnovers while Brokaw took the win in the cage after totaling 14 saves and four ground balls.

The Tars were led by Kallie German who totaled four goals and two assists for six points. Nikki Stumpf added a hat trick while Lily Rizk and Caroline Gastonguay had two goals each. In goal, Gabby Tanner and Sarah Neely combined for three saves.

Queens advances to the semifinals where they will face No. 5 West Chester on Friday, May 17. The championship final is scheduled to take place on Sunday, May 19. The semifinal and final rounds of the championship will be co-hosted by Grand Valley State University and the West Michigan Sports Commission, in Allendale, Michigan.
