CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The 10
th-ranked Queens University of Charlotte women's lacrosse team defeated Wingate University 18-6 on Senior Day to clinch their fifth South Atlantic Conference Regular Season title. Today's win helps the Royals close the regular season with a perfect 8-0 league record for the fifth time. Additionally, Queens improves to 15-2 overall record.

After falling behind 3-0 early, Queens used a 4-0 run to take over control of the game. The Bulldogs answered with back-to-back goals retaking the lead, 5-4, with 19:18 left to play in the first, but Queens responded once again with a four unanswered goals to take an 8-5 lead into the halftime break.

Eight consecutive goals in the second half then increased the Royals' lead to 11, 16-5, allowing them to really run away with today's game.

Hanna Scott become the Royals' all-time leader in points this afternoon surpassing 300 after recording four points on two goals and two assists.
Ally Blood also totaled four points on two goals and two assists while
Kara Blanchard added a hat trick and one assist for four points.
Kyleigh Masteran and
Katie Wardle also recorded hat tricks while
Rachel Perrett had two goals and one assist for three points.
Allison Conn chipped in with a pair of goals as well.

Queens was dominant on the offensive end of the field putting 36 shots on goal en route to outshooting Wingate 40-23. Queens also won the battle at the draw 14-10 with
Sydney Hussey totaling eight on the day. The Royals also recorded 23 ground balls.

Six different players scored for the Bulldogs in today's game. Goalkeeper Arion Pierre totaled 18 saves in the loss.

Prior to the start of the game, seniors Wardle, Scott,
Cammy Case,
Katie Simpson,
Katy Miller, and
Leah Hughes were honored for their careers as Royals. Â

Queens will enter the 2019 SAC Women's Lacrosse Championship as the top seed which awards them a first-round bye. They will be back in action on Friday, April 26 in the semifinal round of the Championship in Wingate, N.C. at 11 a.m.
