CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The 15
th-ranked Queens University of Charlotte women's tennis team knocked off regional foe Francis Marion University 6-1 on Wednesday afternoon from the Howard Levine Tennis Center.
The Royals won all three doubles matchups to earn a point, beginning with a 6-4 win from the sophomore tandem of
Sasha Davidzenka and
Yana Fleyer at No. 1.
Kate Halickman and
Hannah Lehfeldt combined for a 6-3 win at No. 3, followed by a 6-2 win from
Isabel Fornies and
Caity Klaassen at No. 2.
Fleyer, the nation's No. 43 singles player, opened singles play with a 6-2, 6-0 win, followed by a 6-1, 6-0 win at No. 3 from Fornies. Davidezenka recorded a 6-4, 6-3 win at No. 2 to seal the match victory.
Klaassen (6-2, 6-4) and Lehfeldt (6-3, 4-6, 6-0) both won at No. 4 and No. 6, respectively to complete the scoring for Queens.
The Royals return to South Atlantic Conference play on Tuesday, March 12 when the team hosts Lenoir-Rhyne University at 2 p.m.
