MOUNT OLIVE, N.C. – The Queens University of Charlotte men's volleyball team suffered its second straight loss, falling 3-1 (25-17, 25-22, 20-25, 25-20) to host University of Mount Olive on Saturday inside Kornegay Arena.
The opening set of action saw Queens (7-18) earn a 12-11 lead on a kill from sophomore
Josh Bragg before the Trojans rallied with a 14-6 run to claim the set win. Mount Olive (10-14) led from start to finish in the second set, hitting .270 en route to a 2-0 match lead.
Queens responded with a .433 hitting performance in the third to extend the match, but Mount Olive forced the Royals into a negative offensive performance in the fourth and final set to earn the home win.
Sophomore
Nic Cavallaro led the team with 13 kills and 14 digs for his second double-double of the season, while fellow sophomore
Tristan Santoyo followed with 11 kills and eight digs.
Bragg tallied 10 digs on defense and senior setter
Alexander Schinzing finished with 39 assists and eight digs of his own. Sophomore middle
Cody Nix led all players with three service aces and libero
Conner Nagaki had a season-high nine digs.
Queens three-game road trip concludes on Tuesday, April 2 when the team travels to Banner Elk, N.C. for a 7 p.m. contest with Lees-McRae College.
