WILSON, N.C. – The Queens University of Charlotte men's volleyball team had its three-match winning streak snapped on Friday night, falling 3-0 (25-16, 25-17, 26-24) to Barton College inside Wilson Gymnasium.
The Bulldogs (20-3) tallied a .353 hitting percentage on offense despite 11 total blocks by Queens (7-17). In contrast, the Royals hit .184 on the attack.
Barton cruised to two set wins to open the match, winning both the first and second sets of action by nine and eight points, respectively. The Bulldogs hit .391 across the opening to sets of play.
Queens turned the tables in the third set of action, recording a .393 hitting mark in the frame. Barton led 7-4 early on in the set before the Royals rallied to take a 9-8 lead on a double block from sophomores
Nic Cavallaro and
Cody Nix.
Facing match point, Queens exited a timeout and tied the match at 24-all with consecutive kills from freshman
Jordan Haigh and Cavallaro. Barton responded with back-to-back kills from Adrian Iglesias and Angelos Mandilaris to finish the match on top.
Sophomore
Tristan Santoyo led the Royals with 11 kills and eight digs, while Cavallaro finished with eight kills and eight digs of his own. Sophomore setter

JP Payne collected six and five blocks, respectively.
Queens continues its three-match road trip tomorrow against University of Mount Olive at 2 p.m. in Kornegay Arena.
