No. 10 Queens Extends Win Streak to Five

GREENEVILLE, Tenn.  –  The 10th-ranked Queens University of Charlotte men's lacrosse team extended its win streak to five this afternoon after picking up a 16-8 win at Tusculum University. The win moves the Royals to 8-1 on the year and 3-0 in South Atlantic Conference play while the Pioneers drop to 5-2 on the year and 1-2 in league play.
 
Queens led 4-1 in the opening quarter until a pair of late goals scored by the Pioneers helped them pull within one, 4-3. A goal from Eric Fitz then gave the Royals a 5-3 lead heading into the second quarter where both teams scored three goals each to give the game an 8-6 score at the break.
 
The Royals would take over today's game in the second half outscoring the Pioneers 8-2 across the third and fourth quarters.
 
Queens outshot Tusculum, 49-31, putting 34 shots on goal. Additionally, the Royals totaled 46 ground balls to Tusculum's 20 and won 18-of-25 face-offs with Drew Flack winning all 18. Flack also totaled 11 ground balls to lead all on the field.
 
Kealan Pilon and Quinn Tallant each recorded hat tricks to lead the Royals offensively this afternoon. David Byrne also had three points on two goals and one assist while Jesse Oliver and Fitz completed the game with two goals each. Mackenzie Tallant chipped in with two points on two assists. Kyle Hornik collected today's win in goal after totaling nine saves in 49:03.
 
Nate Raymond led the Pioneers with three goals while Liam Macdonald added two goals and one assist. Ross Geiger took the loss in goal after recording 16 saves.
 
Queens will have a week off before returning to action on Saturday, March 30 against Coker College at home. Play is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m.
