WISE, Va. – The Queens University of Charlotte women's lacrosse team picked up a 23-10 road win over UVA-Wise this afternoon moving the 15
th-ranked Royals to 7-2 on the year while the Cavs drop to 2-5.
Queens opened today's game hot on the offensive end scoring eight straight goals before the Cavs found the back of the net once. The Royals then put four more points on the board to give the game a 12-1 score at 6:33. However, UVA-Wise closed the period with four consecutive goals to cut Queens' lead to seven, 12-5, at the break.
At the start of the second, the Cavs were able to tighten the gap to five with back-to-back scores, but the Royals answered with a 4-0 run to jump back out to a 16-7 lead. The Royals then worked to string together runs throughout the remainder of play to secure the nonconference win.
Five Royals recorded hat tricks in the win as
Rachel Perrett led with a career-high six points on three goals and three assists.
Taylor Quade followed with five points to match her career-high in the category after totaling three goals and two assists.

Ally Blood, and
Katie Wardle each added four points. Defensively, the Royals totaled 15 caused turnovers with
Cammy Case's three leading the way. Four others tallied two caused turnovers each.
Chase Brokaw collected the win in goal after totaling 11 saves.
Queens outshot the Cavs, 41-27, placing 37 shots on goal. The Royals also won the battle for ground balls, 25-15, but lost the battle at the draw, 20-14.
McKayla Grasham led the Cavs offense with four goals. She also led all on the field with nine draw controls. Elsa Girardo took the loss in goal after recording 14 saves.
Queens will remain on the road to face Tusculum University in a South Atlantic Conference game set for Saturday, March 23 at 12 p.m.
