CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Junior attacker
Ally Blood recorded a career-high nine points on four goals and five assists to lead the 15
th-ranked Queens University of Charlotte Royals to a 20-5 win over Lenoir-Rhyne University. Queens moves to 6-2 on the year and 2-0 in South Atlantic Conference play while the Bears fall to 5-4 on the year and 1-1 in the league.
Holding a 5-3 lead at 14:59, Queens went on a 7-0 run to lead 12-3 with 14 seconds left in the opening half. A goal scored by Lenoir-Rhyne with one second left in the period then gave the game a 12-4 score at the break.
In the second, Queens really took control outscoring the Bears 8-1 after rattling off another seven-straight goals to secure their 15-point win.
Junior attacker
Rachel Perrett recorded a career-high five goals while
Hanna Scott added six points on three goals and three assists.
Allison Conn added a hat trick and
Taylor Quade notched one goal and one assist. Defensively,
Katie Wardle,
Sydney Bracken, and Perrett led with two caused turnovers each.
Chase Brokaw collected the win in goal after recording 10 saves.
Queens outshot Lenoir-Rhyne, 29-26, putting 26 shots on goal. However, the Royals lost the battle for ground balls, 24-20, and draw controls, 14-12.
Gia Colombo totaled two goals to lead Lenoir-Rhyne. Cristi Rowland took the loss in goal after recording four saves.
The Royals will travel to face UVA-Wise on March 22 before jumping back into SAC play at Tusculum on Saturday, March 23.
